Please describe any other <br />relevant expertise or capacity <br />to carry out the project in your <br />application: <br />Town of Carrboro Planning Staff have experience carrying out <br />successful grant projects from entities including the NC <br />Department of Environment and Natural Resources and U.S. <br />Environmental Protection Agency (2006), U.S. Department of <br />Energy (2010), the Clean Fuel Advanced Technology Fund <br />(2015), Duke Energy (2016), NC Urban Forest Council (2020), <br />and the NC Department of Environmental Quality (2021). Staff <br />have met proposed budgets and timetables for these projects. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Criterion 5 - Local Economic Development <br /> <br />31. How many Orange County <br />residents are employed by <br />your organization? <br />118 employees who live in Orange County (64 permanent and <br />54 temporary). <br />32. What percent of project <br />materials will be purchased <br />from sources within Orange <br />County or North Carolina? <br />All of the concrete material will be produced locally. Material <br />costs for concrete are approximately $1.5 million, or about 5% of <br />the overall cost of the project. If we utilize National Gypsum, <br />this would equal another 0.5% or so of overall costs. <br />33. Please describe any other <br />aspect of your project that is <br />relevant to local economic <br />development. <br />The 203 Project will bring new employees to downtown <br />Carrboro. The 29 total jobs will bring an estimated $72,000- <br />$101,500 in new downtown expenditures for businesses. <br />Annually, the Town estimates receiving 2,800 visitors to the <br />government center, 8,300 to the Recreation, Parks, and Cultural <br />Resources Department, and 30,000-40,000 visitors to the library. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Criterion 6 - Amount and Duration of Engagement <br /> <br />34. Please describe how you will <br />engage with and/or educate <br />project participants. <br />As outlined in the Town’s Inclusive Communications & <br />Community Engagement Plan, the Town will work to connect <br />with people of color, immigrant, refugee, and other marginalized <br />communities.
