Youth Climate Leadership Project $10,000 $15,000 $5,000 $30,000 <br />203 Project Solar Photovoltaic Array and <br />Educational Display <br />$89,243 $89,243 <br /> <br /> <br />Briefly explain your proposed use of funds (2-4 sentences): <br />The Town of Carrboro requests funding to construct a solar photovoltaic array and educational display on the <br />203 Project, a new building located at 203 S. Greensboro Street in downtown Carrboro. The 203 Project is a <br />collaborative effort between the Town and Orange County to build a community-based facility containing <br />Town offices, the Orange County Southern Branch Library, WCOM radio, and other amenities. The <br />photovoltaic array will help the 203 Project attain United States Green Building Council Leadership in <br />Energy and Environmental Design (USGBC LEED) Gold equivalent performance goals for the building and <br />help the Town meet additional goals outlined in the Town’s Community Climate Action Plan, municipal <br />Energy and Climate Protection Plan, and Comprehensive Plan. The educational display will highlight the <br />sustainable features of the building and educate visitors on all of the possibilities to reduce greenhouse gas <br />emissions and improve air and water quality through green building practices.
