Fikes, ext 2490 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />PURPOSE: I o receive citizen comments pnor to otticiai close-out of the Lounty s r Y zuu~ <br />Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program and authorize execution of the Certificate of <br />Completion by the Chair of the Board of Commissioners. <br />BACKGROUND: In 2001, the County received $400,000 in State Community Development <br />Block Grant (CDBG) funds for a Scattered Site Housing Rehabilitation Program. These funds <br />were used to repair fourteen (14) substandard dwellings occupied by low-income families in the <br />Towns of Carrboro and Hillsborough and unincorporated Orange County. <br />All planned CDBG activities have been completed and all grant funds have been expended. A <br />summary of the program beneficiaries is attached to this abstract. <br />In order to complete the grant close-out process, the N.C. Department of Commerce requires <br />that a public hearing be held prior to the official closeout of the Scattered Site Hcusing <br />Rehabilitation Program to assess the performance of the County in administering the grant <br />program. In addition, the County is required to execute a Certificate of Completion farm that is <br />included with this abstract. <br />All comments received during the hearing should be reviewed to determine the level of <br />consistency with program goals. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board conduct and then close <br />the public hearing and authorize execution of the Certificate of Completion by the Chair on <br />behalf of the Board of Commissioners. <br />
