20. How many tons of
greenhouse gas emissions
will your project
reduce/avoid each year?
Please list any data sources
used and show the steps of
any calculations. Feel free
to submit in a separate
document if clearly labelled:
To date, Club Nova has diverted close to 1 ton of waste (1,567
pounds) into compost through our partnership with Compost Now.
Compost Now has helped us realize and understand the long term
impact of these numbers through specific formulas and calculations
that are reported monthly. To date, our contributions have created
157 pounds of compost to be used in Garden Partnerships within the
community, a program that Compost Now facilitates in order to
support local gardens and urban farms in their efforts to grow
healthy food for the community; in so doing, Club Nova has provided
our earned compost with these partners and is looking to become a
Garden Partner itself. This achievement also translates to the
avoidance of 167 pounds of methane and 4,074 pounds of Carbon
Dioxide equivalent released into the atmosphere. Please see the
chart below to view our daily, monthly and annual (and beyond)
contributions for the following items: waste diverted, compost
created, methane avoided, CO₂e AVOIDED, CO₂e MILES NOT DRIVEN,
tomato potential of compost and number of growers in Garden
Partnership program.
10 years 5 years 1 year

1
month

1 day

Waste
diverted
7,232
pounds
3616.5 723.23 60.27 2
Compost
Created
725
pounds
362.3 72.46 6.04 0.20
Methane
Avoided
752
pounds
376.15 75.23 6.27 0.21
CO₂e
AVOIDED
18,803
pounds
9401.5 1880.30 156.69 5.22
CO₂e MILES
NOT DRIVEN
21,111
pounds
10,555.4 2111.08 175.92 5.86
Farmer
Partners
460
growers
230 46 4 N/A
Tomato
Potential of
our compost
5,423
tomatoes
2712 542.30 45.19 1.51
Formulas in chart:
Landfill Diversion: This is what CompostNow weighed or their
partners weighed, with some estimates for the first two years of
operation.
Compost Created: CompostNow uses a rough blended estimate of
33%. Via their website, they state that “materials collected ‘shrink’ in
the composting process, but the process also includes the addition of
additional carbon materials. Some materials like compostable
service-ware produce little compost, others like food waste more
(though even those vary greatly based on water content).”
Formula: impact [lbs_compost_produced] = impact [lbs_diverted] *
0.33
DocuSign Envelope ID: A9B18E2F-7835-4086-B808-E21D1F44AE18
