Does your project accelerate or
expand on existing programs
that already show positive
impact?
Yes, our project accelerates and expands on climate actions, including
composting, gardening, reducing food waste, plant-based diet, utilizing
local produce and materials vendors, capturing and utilizing rainwater,
limiting disposable items (using cloth napkins), and batch cooking.
26. Does your project also take
advantage of other funding
sources?
The Carrboro Farmer’s Market donates fresh produce from the Wednesday Market. During
the summer, we receive in excess of 100 pounds per week of fresh local produce that we
use creatively in our meal prep and menu. Our goal is to reduce food waste.
27. Would your proposed project
help you to take advantage of
funding from other sources
besides this grant in the future?
Yes, we know there are other funders who are interested in
supporting projects and efforts to mitigate the negative effects of
climate change. Often potential funders want to know that there are
other funders supporting a project.
28. Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to the efficient use of
grant funds:
Club Nova's overall successful implementation of the many
different climate action measures demonstrates that Club Nova will
make efficient use of the grant funds.

29. Please describe any projects
that you have completed
successfully in the past which
are similar to the project you
are proposing:
From previous question: Club Nova serves as a model for all of Orange County regarding accomplishments we have made to mitigate the negative impacts of Climate Change. We have already addressed major facets of the local Climate Action Plans. In our new building design, we included capacity for solar cells. We have a large
southern exposure, and almost the entire southern roof contains solar cells. Please see photograph/s. There is an east and west gable that also has solar cells. The members and staff of Club Nova, after much research and discussion, decided to build an all-electric building, including an all-electric commercial kitchen (electric
range, convection ovens, steamer) and water heater. We included an electric vehicle charging station in our parking area.
We selected all native plants for our trees and pollinator gardens.
30. If you are proposing to
collaborate with other
organizations on this project,
please briefly describe their
relevant experience to the
project and/or the target
population:
Refer to item #13 and attachment titled "Additional
Collaborators"
31.
