Please provide a brief description <br />of your organization’s past <br />achievements in carrying out <br />similar projects and evidence of <br />successful record of meeting <br />proposed budgets and <br />timetables (2-4 sentences): <br />In 1977, a project was under development by a graduate student at the University of North <br />Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health, called the North Carolina Agricultural <br />Marketing Project. The town of Carrboro wanted to establish a sense of community in <br />Carrboro’s downtown area and sought funding from the NC General Assembly to build a <br />shelter for a farmers’ market. This, combined with the university project, formed the farmers <br />market in its early days. “The project’s goal was to provide an outlet for local farmers to sell <br />their produce on a regular basis while providing townspeople greater access to high quality <br />fresh produce.” In 1993, the Carrboro Farmers Market was the recipient of an agricultural <br />grant to build new shelters and complete necessary site improvements at the Carrboro Town <br />Commons, at which point they moved to their new location in 1996. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />d. Project Name: <br />Club Nova's Climate Action Plan – Big Impact Small Footprint <br />7. Please briefly describe the <br />proposed project and the target <br />population to benefit from the <br />program. How many people will <br />benefit? (100-300 words) <br />Club Nova works with individuals living with serious mental illness. We anticipate at least 100 members will directly <br />benefit from our project. Our project includes minimizing the greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing our carbon <br />footprint through accelerating and expanding the following: <br />Plant based diet, food waste reduction plan, composting, growing our own vegetables and herbs, composting, <br />increasing local purchasing, recycling, utilizing reusable products/items (i.e. cloth napkins and limiting one time use items, and capturing and reusing rainwater. <br />Our members will benefit from a healthier, sustainable diet and from being part of a larger focus to make a <br />significant positive impact on climate change. <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: A9B18E2F-7835-4086-B808-E21D1F44AE18
