Page 2 <br />February 5, 2024 <br /> <br />Potential Problems <br />While most of the information required for completion of the amended claim for refund is on hand at the finance <br />office of Orange County, NC, some additional information may need to be requested from construction <br />contractors or other vendors who have provided goods and services for Orange County, NC during the fiscal <br />years being reviewed. The completion date of our work will, to some extent, depend on their response time. <br /> We will be working with a large amount of data and also attempting to complete our work and return your office <br />environment back to normal in the shortest possible time; therefore, the attendance of key office personnel will <br />be very important. We will make every attempt not to intrude on the time management of your staff, but we will <br />need a contact person for questions and to help us locate information. <br /> <br />The Report <br />We will provide you with a report which will indicate the amount of tax which was included in the original <br />Claim for Refund and any additional tax included in the amended claim so you can focus future efforts on the <br />areas which may have been overlooked. Our report will also include suggestions, if any, for improvement in <br />data capture which should make gathering of information easier in the future. <br /> <br />Cost and Timing <br />Sessions Consulting, Inc.'s fee for the services described above is 25% of any increase in the amount of Orange <br />County, NC’s Claims for Refund for fiscal years ended 6/30/2021, 6/30/2022, and 6/30/2023. If there is no <br />increase in the refunds, there will be no fee. The fee is payable upon receipt of the refunds by Orange County, <br />NC. If we find that you need to make additional payments to NCDOR or return erroneously refunded tax we <br />will make you aware but this will occur separately from the amended claims for refund that we will prepare on <br />your behalf, and thus will not factor into our billing. <br /> At our initial appointment we will request a brief interview after which we will begin our work and we will <br />attempt to complete the information-gathering phase as soon as possible. The forms prescribed by the <br />Department of Revenue will be completed, reviewed, and submitted upon completion of the information- <br />gathering phase. After Orange County, NC receives their refunds, we will continue to be available to answer <br />any questions you may have. <br /> We know that you are busy; therefore, simply sign below and return one copy to us to confirm your agreement <br />with this proposal.
