Through a combination of accepted deduct alternates included in the bid and value engineered <br />elements agreed to by the County, the Architect and the Contractor, the cost of the bid has <br />been reduced to $5,110,771 All essential elements remain in the project and no cost reduction <br />element reduces the integrity of the program or operational aspects of the overall project. <br />It is important to note that there are several cost items beyond the bid amount that are <br />considered owner responsibilities and have been or will need to be paid by the County during <br />the course of the project, including, but not limited to such items as: design fees, materials <br />testing, furnishings, OWASA fees to connect facility to public water and sewer, data and <br />telephone system wiring, fees associated with regulatory process, etc. These owner <br />responsibility items total approximately $838,000.
