NCDOT Signed Right-of-Way Dedication Plat Cy Stober, 919-245-2585 <br /> PURPOSE: To authorize the County Manager and the Orange County Planning Department to <br /> sign an exempt subdivision plat recording a North Carolina Department of Transportation <br /> (NCDOT) right-of-way to accommodate a future street named Wolf Creek Trail within the Wolf <br /> Creek Subdivision, which is primarily located in Chatham County. <br /> BACKGROUND: This request includes a public right-of-way dedication and road addition to be <br /> petitioned for acceptance to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. The road lengths <br /> and widths are as follows: <br /> Road Name Length in Number of Frontage Pavement and Right-of-Way <br /> Miles Lots with Houses Widths in Feet <br /> Wolf Creek Trail 0.27 mi 0 20-ft asphalt pavement within <br /> 60-ft Right-of-Way <br /> The subject property is located in southwestern Orange County along the south side of Jones <br /> Ferry Road (State Road 1942), at the Orange and Chatham County line (Attachment 1). The <br /> Orange County portion of Wolf Creek Trail has a length of 0.27 miles of road and would serve as <br /> the sole means of access for ninety-one (91) single-family residential lots in Chatham County. It <br /> has a right-of-way width of sixty (60) feet and a pavement width of twenty (20) feet. <br /> The exempt plat to record this right-of-way will be recorded in Orange County, pending Board of <br /> Commissioners approval. The Wolf Creek Subdivision and right-of-way will also be recorded in <br /> Chatham County. Wolf Creek Trail was designed to public road standards and will become a <br /> public road when conditions meet NCDOT maintenance responsibility and ownership criteria. The <br /> plans and permits have been reviewed and approved by NCDOT and both County Planning <br /> Departments. NCDOT has investigated this request and has signed the Orange County plat <br /> (Attachment 2). There are no known violations associated with the subdivision. <br /> Conclusion: The plat meets the criteria endorsed by the BOCC for public right-of-way dedication <br /> and ultimate acceptance of the public road into the NCDOT State Maintained System for roads. <br />
