3 <br /> Department on Aging <br /> 3. The Orange County Department on Aging has received notification of additional Home and <br /> Community Care Block Grant funds, distributed by the Central Pines Regional Council <br /> (formerly Triangle J Council of Governments), in the amount of $10,430. These funds will <br /> be used to provide additional funding toward the Community Based Supplies and Senior <br /> Lunch Program. This budget amendment provides for the use of these funds during the <br /> current fiscal year. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> 4. The Department on Aging will utilize existing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Senior <br /> Care grant funds to increase the full-time equivalent (FTE) for the Human Services <br /> Coordinator from .75 to 1.0 through September 30, 2024 for the expansion of the Respite <br /> Program and Dementia Friendly Community Initiative. This additional expense will be <br /> funded by the existing ARPA Senior Care funds through Central Pines Regional Council <br /> (formerly Triangle J Council of Governments) approved in September 2022 as part of <br /> Budget Amendment #1. This amendment provides for .25 additional FTE to be covered in <br /> the Multi-Year Grant Fund. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> 5. The Department on Aging has received an additional $5,812 for Community Based <br /> Services classes and $1,615 for Facility Use Fees. These additional funds will be used to <br /> purchase supplies to support the Community Based Services program. This budget <br /> amendment provides for the receipt and use of these funds within the General Fund. <br /> 6. The Department on Aging has received additional donations of $11,398 for the Senior <br /> Wellness Program. These additional funds will be used to purchase replacement wellness <br /> exercise equipment. This budget amendment provides for the receipt and use of these <br /> funds within the General Fund. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br />
