She said the following day at the Seymour Center there will be a public workshop hosted <br /> by the Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro MPO to help identify community needs and <br /> recommendations for transit services, particularly for older adults. She said a similar workshop <br /> will be held on March 21 at the Durham County administrative building, and a virtual option will <br /> be held on April 10. She said there will be a job fair on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and <br /> encouraged any employers who are interested in joining to contact the county. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said she attended a financial retreat for the Alliance board. She <br /> said the tailored plan which provides comprehensive services for residents is on track to roll out <br /> on July 1 and Alliance is ready. She said earlier in the day she took a tour of Freedom House and <br /> learned more about the behavioral and substance abuse services in the community. She said the <br /> School Capital Needs Workgroup would meet the following day. <br /> Commissioner McKee said he appreciated everyone in attendance at the meeting for <br /> speaking on issues at the Sportsplex. He said that there had been a previous issue at the <br /> Sportsplex that he thought had been addressed. He said he had requested copies of the contract <br /> and had petitioned at the last meeting to start exploring other options. He said that he had read <br /> a disturbing email that was about the need for professional staff. He said he was very concerned. <br /> Vice-Chair Greene said she and Commissioner Richards attended the Child Care <br /> Services Association awards breakfast, where a teacher at the Little School in Hillsborough was <br /> a semi-finalist for one of the major awards. She said she attended the Justice Advisory Council <br /> where the Clerk of Court, Mark Kleinschmidt, made a presentation on the major transition to an <br /> automated system for the courts. She said there were also presentations on restorative justice <br /> efforts. She said earlier in the day she went to the DSS board meeting during which the FY25 <br /> budget request was discussed. She said DSS plans to ask for funding for new positions, and that <br /> the department has had to deal with some tough situations in the past year. She said that county <br /> extension agent Mart Bumgarner has created a controlled burn group, and they would be <br /> performing a controlled burn at the Chapel Hill Creamery on March 21. <br /> Commissioner Portie-Ascott said she visited Piedmont Health Services to learn more <br /> about the services they provide for the community. She discussed several of the services and <br /> initiatives Piedmont Health undertakes to meet the needs of their patients. She said that Piedmont <br /> Health Services also provides school-based behavioral health services and that they would like <br /> to partner with Orange County schools in this initiative. She said she attended the Local <br /> Government Affordable Housing Collaborative meeting the previous day,where they reviewed the <br /> allocations for the HOME funds. She said she attended the Lumos community event at Lattisville <br /> Grove where there was discussion about community investment by Lumos. She said that one <br />
