Impact on Resource from Proposed Development <br /> The entirety of the study parcel is located within the Oaks Rural Historic District(ORHD). The McIver House (OR 1134), <br /> a historic house that once stood on the parcel, no longer stands. The ORHD boundary was proposed and mapped <br /> in 1993 in consultation with SHPO. This site is eligible for listing on the National Register. The absence of the <br /> McIver House will likely result in the exclusion of the study parcel from the ORHD during any future boundary re-designations. <br /> 1.b. Proposed Mitigation <br /> Residents of the ORHD have expressed concern about future building activity, which intrudes on the rural character <br /> of the community. Residents of the ORHD advocate for new set backs from the highway with screened plantings for <br /> any proposed new development. Screened plantings will lessen the visibility of new development from adjacent roadways. <br /> An inter-disciplinary discussion between stakeholders is anticipated,with the goal of alleviating any negative development issues. <br /> 2.a.
