Three Oaks biologist Nathan Howell
completed a survey for this species on November 28, 2022. Although this survey
took place in the dormant season, well after first frost, the habitats capable of
supporting this species contained a "weedy" associate floristic composition not
typically associated with the presence of smooth coneflower. Additionally, no
naked coneflower stems supporting the characteristic coneflower "heads" were
identified in this effort. It is the surveyor's opinion that smooth coneflower is not
present within the PSA. If for some reason surveys are requested during the
appropriate survey window,Three Oaks can complete those at that time and update
the survey results. A review of the Spring 2023 NCNHP dataset indicates no known
smooth coneflower EO's within the PSA, or within 1.0 mile of the PSA.
Pondberry
USFWS Optimal Survey Window: February—March; September—October
Biological Conclusion: No Effect
Suitable habitat for pondberry, in the form of wetland depressions or bogs, is not
present within the PSA. Three Oaks biologist Nathan Howell completed a habitat
assessment for this species on November 28, 2022.
