ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: April 13, 2004 Action Agenda y Item No. ,~ - h SUBJECT: Renewal of Consolidated Agreement Between Department of Health and Human Services and the Health Department DEPARTMENT: Health PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No ATTACHMENT(S): Consolidated Agreement INFORMATION CONTACT: Rosemary Summers, ext 2411 TELEPHONE NUMBERS: Hillsborough 732-8181 Chapel Hill 968-4501 Durham 688-7331 Mebane 336-227-2031 PURPOSE: To approve the annual consolidated agreement between the NC Department of Health and Human Services and the Orange County Health Department, which provides State and Federal funds to the Health Department to partially support mandated services. BACKGROUND: The attached agreement stipulates the provisions far receiving State and Federal support for the programs listed below, At this point in time, the state anticipates finding at the same levels approved this year. There are only a few minor dollar differences. Final guidance on budgetary amounts will be provided in July. General Maternal Health AIDS (Federal) Family Planning Food and Lodging Environmental Health Block Grant that includes Communicable CSHS Orthopedic Child Health Child Service Coordination Immunization Action Plan Public Health Preparedness Disease, Adult Health and Health Promotion FINANCIAL IMPACT: The State consolidated agreement is anticipated to provide $408,629 Federal and State dollars to the County to provide specific services for fiscal year 2004-2005. There are no further reductions in funding at this point in time. The total amount funded represents less than 9% of the overall health department budget. This does not include Medicaid revenue which is earned separately for services provided. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreement and authorize the Chair to sign the agreements and assurances pending county attorney review.
