54 <br /> US 70 Multimodal Corridor Study <br /> 4.3.6.2 2022 Burlington Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization Comprehensive <br /> Transportation Plan (CTP) <br /> This plan addresses the aspirational transportation improvements in the Burlington-Graham Metropolitan <br /> Planning Organization (BGMPO) area for the next 25 to 30 years.The noted roadway recommendations within <br /> the study area are listed below: <br /> • Widen NC 119 to a four-lane, divided facility <br /> • Widen Mattress Factory Road to a four-lane, divided facility <br /> • Realign Mattress Factory Road to allow for safer railroad crossing and improve mobility; extend on a <br /> new location as a four-lane, divided facility to US 70 <br /> • Construct new interchange along 1-85/1-40 for Mattress Factory Road to improve mobility, relieve <br /> congestion on Arrowhead Blvd and Oakwood St Ext and provide better access to industrial areas <br /> 4.3.6.3 2020 Burlington Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization Metropolitan Transportation <br /> Plan (MTP) <br /> This plan identifies the planned transportation improvements in the Burlington-Graham area through the year <br /> 2045. The plan identifies US 70 as a major transportation corridor and key to the economic vitality of the <br /> region. Roadway recommendations include: <br /> • 1-40 and US 70 integrated corridor management. <br /> • Advanced signal technology upgrades along US 70. <br /> 4.3.6.4 2017 Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization Comprehensive <br /> Transportation Plan (CTP) <br /> This plan identifies the planned transportation improvements in the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro <br /> Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) area through the year 2040. The notable recommendations <br /> along the US 70 corridor include: <br /> • Widen US 70 to a four-lane, divided facility from the 1-85 connector to US 70 Business. <br /> • Improve the existing 1-85 connector/US 70 interchange to create a full movement interchange. <br /> • Widen Churton Street (US 70/ NC 86) to a four-lane facility with a raised median. <br /> 4.3.6.5 2018 Mebane 2040 Comprehensive Transportation Plan <br /> Mebane's 2040 Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is for the City of Mebane in Alamance and Orange <br /> Counties.The plan is multi-modal, covering roadway, public transportation, and bicycle and pedestrian travel. <br /> The plan lists the following roadway project associated with the US 70 corridor: <br /> • Realign the northern terminal of Mattress Factory Road to improve the existing at grade crossing on <br /> Washington Street, as the existing configuration does not accommodate heavy vehicles and limits <br /> connectivity to US 70 across the railroad. <br /> 45 Existing Conditions and Critical Issues <br />
