36 <br /> US 70 Multimodal Corridor Study <br /> Plan elements focus on community connectivity, future land use, parks and recreation, rail station planning, <br /> corridor planning, and climate action.A major priority for the Town is multimodal connections, for which the <br /> project team has been evaluating opportunities and feasibility with safety and resiliency at top of mind. The <br /> plan elements are listed with in the 8 main chapters: Town Government & Public Services, Land Use & <br /> Development, Environment & Natural Systems, Transportation &Connectivity, Social Systems & Public Space, <br /> Housing &Affordability, Economic Systems &Tourism, and Climate & Energy. <br /> The plan's transportation and connectivity chapter outline and unifies recommendations listed in the Town's <br /> other controlling plans, with specific future pedestrian and bike facilities. Other key recommendations include <br /> an update of the Town's UDO and Zoning Classifications, as well as an implementation plan for unifying the <br /> other controlling plans within the Town. <br /> 4.2.5 Critical Issues <br /> The table below overviews deficiencies in the built environment that must be addressed to achieve the plan's <br /> goals. <br /> Problem Relevant Goal(s) <br /> US 70 poses a significant barrier to pedestrian <br /> connectivity in urban areas despite existing crossings. <br /> A /WwAy'r A <br /> 2 4, 5 6 <br /> US 70 does not have sufficient multimodal facilities to <br /> support its growing business. <br /> 2, 3 9 <br /> US 70 detracts from the character of the <br /> municipalities it traverses. <br /> 3 <br /> 4.3 Motorized Transportation <br /> 4.3.1 Roadway Design <br /> US 70 is a basic 2-lane highway, most of which has 4' paved shoulders and 120' ROW. Thirteen intersections <br /> along this 18.9-mile segment are signalized.
