She said the bus route can be extended.
Judy Johnson said the Town of Chapel Hill has been considering its parcel for an
affordable housing site. She described the lines on the map and indicated that the area in question
is in Chapel Hill's planning jurisdiction and is currently zoned low-density residential. She
explained that the proposed boundary lines are drawn based on resolutions passed by the Town
of Chapel Hill and Town of Carrboro which agreed to maintain the rural character of Smith Level
Rd., and similarly, to follow property lines and preserve the rural character of Old Lystra Rd.
Commissioner Fowler asked if the Heritage Hills neighborhood has water and sewer.
Judy Johnson said yes.
Commissioner Fowler asked if the homes on the other Smith Level Rd. have access to
the water and sewer lines.
Judy Johnson said there is a water line running down Smith Level Rd. and water running
down 15-501, but the residents cannot connect unless there is an adverse health impact to their
well water.
Slide #5
Will this affect the rural buffer?
No.
Frequently
Asked
Questions Is this a rezoning process?
No. This process is to amend the agreement,
not to rezone.
