• Office of Equity and Inclusion co-sponsored with us a Fair Housing workshop—included presentation on <br /> federal and Orange County guidelines. Includes people over 40 as a protected class. 8-9 people <br /> attended. Interest in seeing this offered at the Passmore Center. <br /> • ADU event to be held again at Passmore in April <br /> • Job description for MPA student researching policy and advocacy— have received first applicants. <br /> • Orange County Homes Preservation Coalition —OC Housing moving to a 3-year contract <br /> • Chapel Hill interest in housing bond for$50 million to support affordable housing. <br /> • Home repair expansion — Hope Renovations expanding to Wake County <br /> • Handy Helper Program— New staff person in Volunteer Connect 55+ <br /> • Interest from state to move OCHPC model to across NC—OC is a model for other counties. <br /> • OCAHC—ask BOCC to consider set aside fund for last resort home repair fund. Asking for$2 million <br /> through CIP—sharing data with BOCC on capacity. <br /> c. Community Supports and Health Services <br /> • New data collection tool—first quarter using the online tool, volunteer helping partner orgs learn how <br /> to use the form. Allows for more uniform data collection process. <br /> • Lessons learned revealing which partners are engaged in MAP. <br /> • The entire Aging Transitions team trained in AAA AOTA program for car fit—expanding to 3x a year <br /> • Hoarding task force offered three community education events in the last quarter [goal is 2 a year] <br /> • Student is working on a resource guide for hoarding taskforce. <br /> • Class six of Project Engage graduated 13 new senior leaders. <br /> • Increase in new volunteers and hours spent volunteering. <br /> • Handy Helpers presentations have increased. <br /> Committee Progress Reports if needed: <br /> 8. Senior Tar Heel Legislature— Dick White/Vibeke Talley <br /> a. Standing committees and issue committees are meeting regularly <br /> b. Push for 30K from legislature to fund the work of the STHL <br /> 9. Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Joint Community Advisory Committee—Jackie Podger <br /> a. The committees have moved to paperless reporting <br /> b. Seeking speakers and field trip sites <br /> 10. Friends of the Passmore Center <br /> a. Spring market 5/4 9 a.m.-1 p.m. <br /> b. Easter egg hunt at Efland <br /> 11. Friends of the Seymour Center—Shelia Evans <br /> a. Contributed funds to offset cost of new sound system at Seymour Center <br /> b. Cookbook is ongoing to be completed in 2025 <br /> c. Sponsoring Google workshop 4/13 from 9a-11a focused on protecting from scamming <br /> presented by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumni group (pg 49 of EP).
