Please describe any projects <br />that you have completed <br />successfully in the past which <br />are similar to the project you <br />are proposing: <br />As previously stated, an Earth Ministry appeal to the <br />congregation raised over $50,000 in 2016 that resulted in 50 <br />solar panels (Duke Energy paid for the installation of <br />programmable thermostats which we had prepared to cover <br />about the same time we were installing our solar panels) Our <br />solar became operational in July 2016 <br />30. If you are proposing to <br />collaborate with other <br />organizations on this project, <br />please briefly describe their <br />relevant experience to the <br />project and/or the target <br />population: <br />N/A (We would however be contracting with Cary-based Yes <br />Solar Solutions to install the panels and other equipment <br />needed for this project. They are a well-established business in <br />North Carolina and was also the firm Binkley Contracted with in <br />2016 to install the 50 solar panels currently on the church roof, <br />as seen in the cover photograph of the Yes Solar Solutions <br />proposal attached.) <br />31. Please describe any other <br />relevant expertise or capacity <br />to carry out the project in your <br />application: <br />Binkley has a long-established commitment to Earth (Care) <br />Ministries. Herman Greene was the founding chair of Earth <br />Ministries in 2002. Herman, President of the Ecozoic Society, <br />and author of an Earth Law text, still serves on the Earth <br />Ministry Committee. The current chair, Charles Coble, has <br />served as co-chair, then chair, of Earth Ministries since 2015. <br />Greene and Coble along with long-time member of the finance <br />committee at Binkley, Don Willhoit, have the experience and <br />capacity to carry this project forward successfully. Don was <br />chair of the Finance Committee and Charles was co-chair of <br />Earth Ministries (with now deceased Bob Phillips) when the <br />drive to fund and install the current 50 panels at Binkley Church <br />occurred in 2016.) <br /> <br />Criterion 5 - Local Economic Development <br /> <br />32. How many Orange County <br />residents are employed by <br />your organization? <br />3 employees of Binkley are residents of Orange County. Others <br />live nearby in Chatham, Alamance, and Durham counties. <br />33. What percent of project <br />materials will be purchased <br />from sources within Orange <br />County or North Carolina? <br />Cary, NC-based Yes Solar Solutions will be the contractor used <br />to install the solar panels and other equipment used in this <br />initiative. While the specific materials used by Yes Solar <br />Solutions are derived from locations across the country (and <br />likely from international sources as well) the company and <br />employees are all NC based.
