US 70 Multimodal Corridor Study <br /> Street. The largest cluster of truck crashes occurred in Hillsborough near Churton Street (NC 86) including <br /> three school bus crashes.All three school bus crashes were rear ends that occurred in the morning around <br /> 7:30 am —8:30 am. <br /> 4.6.3 Rail Crossing Crashes <br /> Although no active rail lines cross US 70 in the study corridor, there are five at-grade crossings in Segment A <br /> that are in close proximity to US 70 (less than 50 feet in several instances). There have been two crashes at <br /> these locations over the last 10 years: <br /> • Third Street <br /> 0 March 2021 — Passenger train traveling at 76 mph struck a car stopped on tracks in daylight. <br /> No injuries. <br /> • Fifth Street <br /> 0 December 2014— Passenger train traveling at 79 mph struck a van trapped between gates in <br /> daylight.
