She said she didn't feel strongly either way, but
she said including the word "strive" does change the impact of the statement.
Vice-Chair Greene said she didn't like the word "strive." She suggested "aims to be."
Commissioner Portie-Ascott asked if the number of respondents (67) was enough to
warrant changes to the mission statement.
Charline Kirongozi said the mission statement was available on the social pinpoint site for
community feedback. She said that at this stage there is usually less input. She said most people
feel that they've had input at an earlier stage.
Vice-Chair Greene asked how representative 67 responses are of the county.
Charline Kirongozi said the number is not representative relative to the size of the county.
Commissioner Fowler said that the word "visionary" is not in the vision statement, so it is
useful to keep it in the mission statement.
Commissioner Hamilton said that she didn't think the mission statement needed to be
changed. She felt that it was important to focus on the performance measures and objectives.
Vice-Chair Greene said she thought it was important to change the statement to "beyond
those required by law."
Commissioner Richards said that"visionary"felt vague and thought the word "leader"was
more specific.
Commissioner Hamilton said she was ok with taking "visionary" out.
Commissioner Fowler said she felt "visionary" felt different than "leader."
