a <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING THE END OF THE WAR IN IRAQ <br />WHEREAS, the men and women in the Armed Forces deserve our gratitude for their <br />service and bravery; and, <br />WHEREAS, our service personnel should be put in harm's way only for,just cause; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution <br />Supporting Diplomatic Solutions to End the Conflict in Iraq on March 24, 2003; and <br />WHEREAS, the war in Iraq has caused the death of 2000 United States service personnel <br />and tens of thousands of Iraqis; and <br />WHEREAS, in a time of economic difficulty at home the present Administration's policy <br />has cost tens of billions of dollars that would be better spent on health care, social <br />services, education and infrastructure, both here and in other countries; and <br />WHEREAS, while we support the values, the government and the citizen soldiers of the <br />United States, we believe there should be a rapid conclusion to the war in Iraq in order to <br />bring our men and women safely home; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners calls upon the government of the united States to develop a clear strategy <br />for' a swift ending to the war in Iraq which will bring our soldiers home; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be forwarded to federal and state <br />legislative delegations on behalf of the residents of Orange County.. <br />This the 2"`~ Day of November 2005. <br />Moses Carey, .Tr., Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
