~~'~ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />THE JOINT PLANNING AREA LAND USE PLAN AND MAP <br />WHEREAS, Orange County and the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro entered into a <br />Joint Planning Agreement, dated September 22, 1987, as amended April 2, 1990, <br />September 30, 1998, February 2, 1999, August 20, 2002, and June 24, 2003; and <br />WHEREAS, a Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan was jointly prepared and adopted by <br />all parties to the agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, the area in the Plan bounded by Chatham County to the south, US 151501 <br />to the west, the Chapel Hill Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) to the north, and Old Lystra <br />Road to the east and known as the Chapel Hill Southern Transition Area was originally <br />intended to receive urban-scale development; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill Southern Transition Area has been removed from the <br />Urban Services Area; and <br />WHEREAS, the designation of Rural Buffer is now more appropriate for this area. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL, AND CARRBORO BOARD OF ALDERMEN <br />HEREBY RESOLVE THAT THE JOINT PLANNING AREA LAND USE PLAN AND MAP <br />BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. Make the following amendments to the Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan: <br />a. Page 3: Amend map to change the designation of the Chapel Hill Southern <br />Transition Area to Rural Buffer. <br />b. Page 60: Under *Suburban Residential Areas, remove amendment date and <br />paragraph which addresses lower residential densities resulting from the <br />Southern Small Area Plan for certain areas in the Southern Triangle. <br />c. Page 72: Under *Suburban Residential Areas, remove amendment date and <br />paragraph which addresses lower residential densities resulting from the <br />Southern Small Area Plan for certain areas in the Southern Triangle.. <br />d. Page 78-c: Remove Southern Small Area Plan Map. <br />2.
