I have degrees in <br /> architecture and industrial design from NC State and use this knowledge daily in my practice. I <br /> am have worked with many local groups to facilitate discussions around art and architecture. <br /> Most recently I began an outdoor market to build community and understanding of the <br /> importance of art in our community and in our lives. I have held roles as a chair for the AIA <br /> Triangle Design Awards,juried for community impact in design awards, and I have been <br /> selected and produced public art in the state of Washington. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I believe I can bring my experience together with my abilities as a community builder to help the <br /> arts commission. I also want to learn more about grant funding and how the commission helps <br /> local artists. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> I am a member of the Orange County Artist Guild, I have strong tie to artists in Chatham and <br /> Durham Counties as well as ties to artists in other areas; this gives me the unique ability to pull <br /> ideas from a diverse group of people. I also am a business owner and architect, yet another area <br /> of diverse viewpoints. <br />
