4 <br /> Brief Statement of Board/Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br /> The Orange County Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) was established in <br /> 2001 as recommended by the Affordable Housing Task Force. The purpose of the <br /> AHAB is to advise the Orange County Board of Commissioners regarding: <br /> ❖ Prioritizing affordable housing needs <br /> • Affordable housing includes, rental properties, homeownership, rehab, <br /> maintaining homes so people can age in place. Making these kinds of <br /> things affordable for people is also valid use of funds. <br /> ❖ Assessing project proposals <br /> ❖ Publicizing Orange County's housing objectives <br /> ❖ Monitoring the progress of local housing programs <br /> ❖ Exploring new funding opportunities, and <br /> ❖ Increasing the community's awareness of, understanding of, commitment <br /> to, and involvement in producing attractive affordable housing <br /> What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> • For CIP Bond, reviewed outside agency Affordable Housing Applications and <br /> awarded funds of $5.71VI via the use of a scoring matrix. Advised county on which <br /> projects to fund. <br /> • Held a half day Board meeting to assess the board's collective knowledge and <br /> experience to determine how the board can best support and advance the <br /> BOCC/Counties AH objectives. <br /> List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br /> • Received Outside Agency Updates from: <br /> o Habitat for Humanity OC <br /> o Empowerment, Inc. <br /> o Community Empowerment Fund <br /> o The Center for Community Self-help <br /> • Hosting at least one community listening/information session per year in the <br /> county on Affordable Housing issues and needs. <br /> • Formulate 2024 AHAB Work Plan <br /> • Presentation on unhoused population in the county from Rachel Waltz <br />
