8
Page 2 of 2 Natalie C. Ziemba
Orange Unified Transportation Board
Background, education and experience relevant to this board:
My most relevant experience is as a car owner and a user of public transportation in Orange
County. No specific training or experience in issues related to transport.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
I want to be more involved in decisions about changes and updates to transport plans because I
am directly impacted by traffic as a resident of Orange County. I have first-hand experience with
the public transit available in Chapel Hill, and the public transit options connecting the rural parts
of the county to the town. I am also particularly interested in possible future developments to
improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and the possibility of designating car-free zones.
Contribution to the diversity of viewpoints on this board:
As a cis-gender, white, upper-middle class woman, I experience a lot of privilege on a daily
basis. I think my greatest contribution to diversity would be to bring in a perspective from a
younger generation.
Conflict of Interest:
Boards/Commissions appointments:
Orange County Parks and Recreation Council
Application Date: 7/5/2021
Background, education and experience relevant to this board:
As co-director of the Philosopher's Way Trail Run, I have experience communicating with UNC
forest management, monitoring weather and other factors impacting the ability to hold a race,
working collaboratively to make last-minute changes to race procedure
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
The Community Center Park in Chapel Hill has been a central part of my life since moving to
Chapel Hill as a graduate student in August 2013. After I finished school and moved to
Hillsborough, it remained a central part of my life. Before the pandemic hit
Conflict of Interest:
None that I know of. I am an employee of Duke Clinical Research Institute.
Other Comments:
Applied for Opioid Advisory Committee 09/20/2022
Applied for OUT Board 04/05/2023
This application was current on: 4/5/2023 3:51:15 PM Date Printed: 4/5/2023
