9. Updates and Potential Discussion Topics — Orange County <br />a) Outdoor Advertising Billboards on Interstates <br />During a recent meeting of the Orange County Legislative Issues Task Force, the question was <br />raised regarding the location of new outdoor advertising billboard signs along Interstates 85 and <br />40 within Orange County. It was the Task Force's general understanding that new signs were <br />not allowed within Orange County's jurisdiction, but there is uncertainty regarding the standards <br />within Hillsborough's jurisdiction along the interstates. Town staff was subsequently contacted <br />and, at the joint meeting, will update both Boards on Hillsborough's standards for outdoor <br />advertising signs along the interstates, <br />Attachment 5 — Hillsborough Ordinance - Section 8 — Signs <br />b) Transportation Improvements <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners has indicated a desire for an update /discussion <br />with the Hillsborough Board on proposed transportation improvements of interest to both <br />Boards. The most recent version, dated March 18, 2004, of the DCHC MPO Regional Priority <br />List — Division 7 that relates specifically to Orange County is attached, and should provide a <br />basis for review and discussion by the Boards. <br />Attachment 8 — DCHC MPO Regional Priority List — Division 7 (Orange County) <br />10. Other Business <br />No Attachments <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with discussion of these <br />topics. There are no action items requiring formal Board decisions, <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Boards discuss the topics listed <br />and provide appropriate direction to the respective staffs, <br />
