ATTACHMENT 2: CPLUC HANDBOOK DRAFT <br /> 1. Representative of and Liaison to Your Commission/Bond. You are the officially <br /> appointed representative of your Commission and/or Board. As such, you are the eyes, <br /> ears and mouth of your fellow Commission/Board members. You are responsible for <br /> representing their interests and perspectives, while also conveying the work and results <br /> of the CPLUC back to your Commission/Board. <br /> 2. Representative of the Citizens of Your Community. You represent a unique local <br /> viewpoint from within the County and its citizens. You know Orange County well- its <br /> people and its resources. Your insights will allow you to determine which growth <br /> management policies, strategies, and fools are right and which are not. <br /> 3. Guidance During Plan Development. You should provide local perspective and <br /> insight on information gathered as well as feedback on policies, strategies, and tools as <br /> they are developed. In doing so, you will playa critical role in helping to shape the <br /> specific policies that will lead Orange County and your community well into the 21" <br /> Century. At the same time, you are not being asked to be a planner or policy writer, <br /> rather,you are to be a sounding board for the citizens of Orange County,your <br /> Commission/Boad, and your community. <br /> 4. Public Meetings Facilitation And Support. During the course of the planning process, <br /> you may be asked to help facilitate public meetings. Specific roles will be discussed <br /> and agreed upon before each meeting and may include:greetinglsigning people in, <br /> facilitallng small groups, summarizing meeting results, serving as a resource person <br /> during meeting activities. <br /> 5. Plan Presentation. At the conclusion of the planning process, you will likely participate <br /> in presenting the results of the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Committee to the <br /> Planning Board and Board of County Commissioners. <br /> 6. Networking And Recruitment. You know others in the county and your community <br /> who have a keen interest in the tutu re of our area. These others may include friends, <br /> neighbors, business associates, or others in positions of interest and influence. By <br /> inviting these individuals to participate in the planning process, you can help make sure <br /> that all viewpoints within the county are embodied In the plan. <br /> ROLE OF OTHER GROUPS, AGENCIES AND STAKEHOLDERS <br /> 1. Orange County Commissions and Boards. As the Plan Is being developed,each <br /> Commission and Boom will be briefed by their representatives an CPLUC on the Plan's <br /> progress. Courtesy copies of any CPLUC materials shall be provided to the <br /> Commissions and Boards as they are developed. <br /> 2. Municipal Governing Boards in Orange County.While,the members of the CPLUC <br /> are from County Commissions and Boards. this In no way diminishes the role of the <br /> municipalities in the Comprehensive Planning Process. As the Plan is developed, each <br /> municipality will be periodically briefed on the Plan's progress. Courtesy copies of any <br /> CPLUC materials shall be provided to the municipalities as they are developed. <br />
