4 <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or <br /> economic status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Library Services <br /> 5. Library Services has received the following additional funds: <br /> • State Aid to Public Libraries — The Library has received $33,302 in grant funds to <br /> be used to support professional development, outreach kits and supplies, marketing <br /> efforts, electronic resources, and processing materials in preparation for the <br /> Southern Branch Library. <br /> • Friends of the Orange County Public Library — The department has received a <br /> donation of $5,564 from Friends of the Orange County Public Library. This funding <br /> will be used to support a writers series offered virtually as well as sensory supplies <br /> for youth services. <br /> • Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)—The department has received two <br /> grant scholarships for $2,488. These scholarships will allow the library's collection <br /> development librarian and digital navigator to attend professional conferences. <br /> • Triangle Community Giving —The department has received a donation of$1,000. <br /> This funding will provide the community with outreach supplies. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br /> or economic status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Animal Services <br /> 6. Animal Services has requested to use $11,621 of donated funds to cover the cost of the <br /> Veterinary Assistance Program. The donated funds will come from Animal Services Go- <br /> Fund-Me campaign. This budget amendment provides for the receipt and use of these <br /> funds to assist low income residents with needed veterinary care, consistent with the intent <br /> of the donations. <br />
