Applicant organization’s <br />Purpose/Mission (2-4 <br />sentences): <br />“Burt’s Bees Foundation supports honeybee health and <br />biodiversity and initiatives that protect Nature and reconnect <br />people to it.” <br />c. Please provide a brief <br />description of your <br />organization’s past <br />achievements in carrying out <br />similar projects and evidence of <br />successful record of meeting <br />proposed budgets and <br />timetables (2-4 sentences): <br />Burt’s Bees Foundation has provided the first $10,000 in 2023 <br />seed funding for USS’s Public Education Rain Garden Design <br />and Installation program. These Burt’s Bees funds are being <br />used to pay 3 Durham County public school teachers, who <br />piloted the program (BETC) in Durham County, to train 7 Orange <br />County public school teachers in the program, pay for their <br />certification in rain-garden design and installation via the NC <br />Cooperative Extension, and cover the costs of materials to install <br />two rain-gardens as stormwater control measures on area low- <br />income properties that suffer from erosion due to stormwater <br />runoff.
