35 <br /> Describe this board/commission's activities/accomplishments in carrying out BOCC <br /> goal(s)/priorities, if applicable. <br /> • Ensure a community network of basic human services and infrastructure that <br /> maintains, protects, and promotes the well-being of all county residents. <br /> • BOH is the primary policy-making and adjudicatory body for the Health <br /> Department and is charged with protecting and promoting the public health <br /> of Orange County residents. <br /> • Promote an interactive and engaging system of governance that reflects community <br /> values. <br /> • The Board of Health joined OCHD staff to collect Community Health <br /> Opinion Surveys for the 2023 Community Health Assessment. Surveys <br /> were conducted via door to door at residential homes and via community <br /> events. Surveys were also available online. BOH Members also attended <br /> community listening sessions to hear feedback from community members <br /> about what they believe are priority issues with regard to health in Orange <br /> County. <br /> • Create, preserve, and protect a natural environment that includes clean water, clean <br /> air, wildlife, important natural lands, and sustainable energy for present and future <br /> generations. <br /> • The Board adopted revised local Rules for Wastewater Treatment and <br /> Disposal Systems, 2024. The revisions clarify existing language as part of <br /> an effort to simplify and streamline the current rules. This represents <br /> technological advances, standardized terminology, and practical <br /> knowledge. <br /> Describe the collaboration relationship(s) this particular board has with other advisory <br /> boards and commissions? <br /> The Health Director serves as the designee for several Board activities and <br /> collaborative initiatives. The Board receives monthly updates via the Health <br /> Director's Report, which shows meetings, presentations, and other <br /> activities completed each month.
