Staff to this Advisory Committee will be: <br /> Durtism Tech Vice President of Student Support Services <br /> Orange County Director of Purchasing and Central Services <br /> • Orange County Engineer <br /> • Orange County Planning Director <br /> • Orange County Economic Development Director <br /> Individual appointees will be brought beck for Board consideration on August 20,2002 to allow <br /> adequate time far solicitation of the at-large and employer representatives. <br /> The Site Select Advisory Committee will be changed to: <br /> • Recommend the final criteria whereby shes shall be evaluated, <br /> • Establish a rating system whereby area may be evaluated, and <br /> • Bring amused the recommendation for consideration by the County Commissioners no <br /> later than June W,2003 in order that construction can be completed by the targeted <br /> opening dale in all 2006. <br /> In addition to selecting a alts for the satellite campus, prior to April 2003, staff of DTCC and <br /> Orange County will be surveying residents to determine the adult education needs of the <br /> County. All elements of the population are to be considered In this first step toward developing <br /> a plan for degree andfor certificate programs, courses, and other adult education services far <br /> Orange Countys community college campus. Special attention will be given to the needs of <br /> potential students who are unemployed or underemployed residents and graduating high <br /> schools students. Current and future employers will also be involved in the study to ensure that <br /> the workforce is being prepared for lobs avallabie in the County. <br /> DTCC envisions that the members of the Advisory Committee for Programming Neads <br /> Assessment will be charged to serve as advisors to DTCC and Orange County staff who will be <br /> conducting the needs assessment. Specifically, the responsibilities of this Advisory Committee <br /> will be attendance at monthly meetings during the course of the needs assessment to: <br /> Advise on the plans for the needs assessment and ensure Inclusiveness, <br /> • Suggest appropriate methods and venues for collecting data, <br /> Advise staff on the preparation of a final report, <br /> Advise staff on the presentation of the analysis of the data to the DTCC Board of <br /> Trustees and the Orange County Commission, and <br /> • <br /> Advise staff on other appropriate presentations of the needs assessment data <br /> throughout the County. <br /> DTCC has recommended that the membership of the Advisory Committee shall be appointed <br /> jointly by the Orange County Commission and the DTCC Board of Trustees as fo0ows: <br /> • Four(4)Public Schools Representatives-One from each high school <br /> • Ore (1) representative of the Hispanic population of the County <br /> • One (1) representative from UNC Chapel Hill <br /> • <br /> One (1)representative from the Department on Aging <br /> One (1)representative from the Department of Social Services <br /> One(1) representative from Joint Orange/Chatham Commonly,Action <br /> Four(4)Town Mayors or their designees- one each from Carnal Chapel Hill, Mebane <br /> • and Hillsborough <br />
