She said they have met with the public information <br /> 6 officer to prepare messaging. She said that if someone applies today, it would be under existing <br /> 7 rules. She said that they are encouraging those newly eligible not to apply until December 1 <br /> 8 when the new criteria rules begin. <br /> 9 Commissioner Richards asked if there will be a staff person available to help. <br /> 10 Lindsey Shewmaker said that staff will be available, and they will make an effort to <br /> 11 ensure completion of the information. She said it is also an opportunity to talk to people about <br /> 12 other DSS programs. <br /> 13 Chair Bedford asked what help is available for people who lack documentation. <br /> 14 Nancy Coston, DSS Director, said there are ways to help people obtain documentation. <br /> 15 She said if a person comes to meet with a DSS staff member, they can get assistance in <br /> 16 meeting all of the requirements. <br /> 17 Commissioner Hamilton asked if the presentation was on the website. <br /> 18 Lindsey Shewmaker said they can share it on the website. <br /> 19 Commissioner Hamilton asked if the number given for those Orange County residents <br /> 20 who are already receiving Medicaid is just those aged 19-24. <br /> 21 Lindsey Shewmaker said that was the entire Medicaid population. <br /> 22 Commissioner Hamilton asked if they know how many are in the 19-64 range. <br /> 23 Lindsey Shewmaker said they would likely be on family planning and 1,984 of those will <br /> 24 have full Medicaid on December 1. <br /> 25 Commissioner Hamilton asked what the majority of the 20,000 will be. <br /> 26 Lindsey Shewmaker said children under age 19, persons aged 65 and over, and those <br /> 27 with disabilities. <br /> 28 Commissioner Fowler said she is happy that it will cover more than just family planning. <br /> 29 She said she is glad that those who were not eligible for ACA and for Medicaid in the past will <br /> 30 get coverage. <br /> 31 <br />
