This review included <br /> • <br /> Benchmarking the Count"technology capacity, organization and practices with selected <br /> other North Carolina coun0es and towns, <br /> • Interviews with Orange County Commissioners, selected department heads, Information <br /> Systems staff and Information Technology Committee as well as focus groups with <br /> employees. <br /> At the January 28,2002 Boats of Commissioners' meeting, Institute of Government consultant <br /> Kevin FitzGerakl presented his findings and recommendations. At that meeting, the Board <br /> asked that the County Manager consider the consultant's findings and recommendations and <br /> report back to the Boom an recommended next steps. Attachment l lists verbatim the IOG <br /> consultant'a recommendations along with the Managers comments. <br /> Given the Coul substantial pending information technology needs, the Manager <br /> recommends the County proceed on a priority basis to establish the Chief Information Officer <br />
