Outside Agencies/Human Services <br /> <br />Cover Page Page 10 of 32 <br /> <br />AGENCY INFORMATION <br /> <br />Please provide the following information about your agency: <br /> <br />1. Date of Incorporation (Month/Year): IFC was founded in 1963 and was incorporated in <br />November 1970. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): IFC confronts the causes and responds <br />to the effects of poverty in our community. We believe in a community that meets <br />everyone's basic needs, including dignified and affordable housing, an abundance of <br />healthy food, and meaningful social connection. <br /> <br /> <br />3. Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in carrying out similar <br />projects and evidence of successful record of meeting proposed budgets and timetables (no more than <br />100 words). In 1963, seven women united to address poverty in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. <br />Since then, IFC has become the primary non-profit provider of basic needs services for <br />people in our community. IFC has built capacity over decades to respond to residents’ <br />diverse needs in partnership with local congregations, foundations, individuals, <br />businesses, partner service providers, and governments. Five years ago, we shifted to a <br />social justice model, where all stakeholders shape IFC practices through a racial equity <br />lens. We respond to food and housing inequities through direct services, as well as <br />advocacy to address the root causes of these inequities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />4.
