Detrimental Conditions: The contractor shall notify the Owner and Landscape Architect in <br />writing of all conditions considered detrimental to growth of plant material. State condition and <br />submit proposal including costs for correcting condition. <br />G. Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site. <br />1. The following individuals must be present: <br />a. GC Contractor’s site representative responsible for the Landscape Contractor’s work <br />b. The Landscape Contractor’s branch manager [or Owner] and job estimator. <br />c. The Project supervisor who will be directly responsible for field work and/or <br />paperwork. <br />1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING <br />A. Packaged Materials: Deliver packaged materials in original, unopened containers showing <br />weight, certified analysis, name and address of manufacturer, and indication of conformance with <br />state and federal laws if applicable. <br />B. Bulk Materials: <br />1. Do not dump or store bulk materials near structures, utilities, walkways and pavements, or <br />on existing turf areas or plants. <br />2. Provide erosion-control measures to prevent erosion or displacement of bulk materials, <br />discharge of soil-bearing water runoff, and airborne dust reaching adjacent properties, <br />water conveyance systems, or walkways. <br />3. Accompany each delivery of bulk fertilizers and soil amendments with appropriate <br />certificates. <br />C. Do not prune trees and shrubs before delivery. <br />D. Protect bark, branches, and root systems from sunscald, drying, wind burn, sweating, whipping, <br />and other handling and tying damage. Do not bend or bind-tie trees or shrubs in such a manner as <br />to destroy their natural shape. Provide protective covering of plants during shipping and delivery. <br />Do not drop plants during delivery and handling. <br />E. Handle planting stock by root ball or container. <br />F. Deliver plants after preparations for planting have been completed and install immediately. If <br />planting is delayed more than six hours after delivery, set plants and trees in their appropriate <br />aspect (sun, filtered sun, or shade), protect from weather and mechanical damage, and keep roots <br />moist. <br />G. If plants are stored for over 24 hours provide the following: <br />1. Set balled stock upright on ground and cover ball with soil, peat moss, sawdust, or other <br />acceptable material to prevent wind, cold, or heat damage to the roots. <br />2. Provide shade to shade requiring trees and shrubs. <br />3.
