Agency’s Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br />Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County brings people together to <br />build homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is an Orange County where everyone has a decent place <br />to live. <br /> <br />3. Please provide a brief description of your organization’s past achievements in carrying out similar <br />projects and evidence of successful record of meeting proposed budgets and timetables (no more than <br />100 words). <br />Habitat is requesting funding for the Home Preservation repair prog ram. Habitat first began completing <br />exterior home repairs in 2010. In 2016, Habitat launched a pilot program providing critical repairs to <br />homeowners in the Northside and Pine Knolls neighborhoods in response to community input. Since that <br />time, Habitat has offered a wide range of interior and exterior repairs to homeowners countywide. <br />Habitat has received government funding for this program since its inception and has proven its ability to <br />successfully complete and report on the agreed upon work. In total, Habitat has successfully completed <br />229 affordable home repair projects in Orange County. <br /> <br />4. Living Wage: Does this agency pay permanent employees a minimum living wage? Yes <br /> <br />If no, please briefly explain. <br /> <br /> <br /> Schedule of Positions: # of FTE – Full-Time Paid Positions: 26 # of FTE – Part-Time Paid Positions: 3 <br />Race & Equity <br />Consistent with our commitment to equity and inclusion, the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and <br />Orange County Government are taking steps together to center racial equity in the Human Services <br />Funding Program. We are requesting basic information about your organization’s racial equity work. <br /> <br />5. How has your organization incorporated racial equity goals into your organizational goals? <br /> <br />As a housing non-profit, Habitat recognizes our responsibility to actively center racial equity in organizational <br />strategy and goals. To help lay this groundwork, funding and paid time off is provided for all staff to <br />participate in racial equity training through the Racial Equity Institute (REI). In 2021, Habitat implemented a <br />new onboarding policy which requires racial equity training for all new hires. We have partnered with the <br />racial equity consultant group BIWA | Emergent Equity to guide staff and board members in an intentional, <br />months-long process of understanding and identifying characteristics of white supremacy that may persist <br />within our organizational culture and perpetuate harm. <br /> <br />Habitat staff are currently in the process of developing a 5-year strategic plan to guide our work.
