B. 2023 Juneteenth Celebration — Commissioner Mahaley thanks staff for organizing the <br /> Juneteenth celebration. Several members of the HRC were in attendance, as well as a <br /> member of the BOCC. <br /> C. Departures — Commissioner Mahaley and Commissioner Garcia-Turner have completed <br /> their terms with the HRC. Each express their gratitude to staff and offer their availability to <br /> support HRC efforts as a community member. <br /> D. South Churton Street Expansion —Town of Hillsborough is seeking to address a new design <br /> for South Churton Street between 1-40 and Eno River. A series of focus groups have been <br /> held to hear from community stakeholders. <br /> IV. County Updates <br /> A. Intake Specialist — The Office of Equity & Inclusion has completed a second round of <br /> interviews for an intake specialist after the first offer to fill the position was declined. <br /> B. Strategic Planning Efforts —The Office will be conducting three (3) community forums to <br /> hear stakeholder input from on County strategic planning. <br /> C. HRC Term Considerations —Considerations are being made on setting parameters on HRC <br /> members time-in-service prior to election to executive team. An amendment to the HRC <br /> by-laws may need to be made for this to be established. <br /> D. HUD Report — The Office is preparing their end-of-year HUD closeout report and <br /> anticipates being able to share with HRC in next session. <br /> E. Resignation — Commissioner Baker has resigned from the HRC due to unforeseen <br /> circumstances. <br /> F. Official Letter of Appeal — The Office has received an official letter of appeal for a Fair <br /> Housing matter that has been determined upon. Commissioners who have received Fair <br /> Housing training will receive notice on next steps for hearing the matter. <br /> V. HRC Events &Committee Reports <br /> A. Community Read —Anticipation of book selection and purchase in the next month. <br /> B. Pauli Murray Awards—Consideration around revisiting the format of the awards ceremony <br /> and potential collaboration with the Hillsborough Central High School Alumni Group. <br /> VI.
