Salary Grade 20 has <br />hiring range of $42,954 - $55,811. <br />BACKGROUND: In May 2003, the Board of County Commissioners approved the service <br />delivery change in the emergency transportation component of Orange County's emergency <br />medical services. With that change, the County assumed the emergency ambulance <br />transportation component of emergency medical services. The Orange EMS and Rescue <br />Squad previously provided this service. <br />As part of the change, the Board approved a new supervisory position effective in October 2003 <br />to provide additional supervision needed by the addition of the transportation function. With the <br />death of Emergency Management Director Nick Waters in April 2004, the decision was made to <br />hold off on filling the position until the County appointed a new Emergency Management <br />Director and that Director had an opportunity to review the position and decide on the best use <br />of the position to address the supervisory needs. <br />Emergency Management Director Jack Ball has completed that review and determined that the <br />new position would assume direct management responsibility for the new field employees, <br />providing for more uniformity and continuity of management and direction for all levels of field <br />EMS personnel (including Paramedics and EMT Basics).
