Whitted Complex Stormwater <br /> Improvement Project <br /> DEPARTMENT: Asset Management Services <br /> (AMS) <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Recommendation Letter and Certified Bid Angel Barnes, 919.245.2628 <br /> Tabulation Steven Arndt, 919.245.2658 <br /> Jovana Amaro, 919.245.2651 <br /> PURPOSE: To: <br /> 1) Approve a construction contract with Hamlett Associates for the construction of the Richard <br /> E. Whitted Complex Stormwater Improvement Project; and <br /> 2) Authorize the County Manager to execute the Agreement, subject to final review by the <br /> County Attorney, and any subsequent amendments for contingent and unforeseen <br /> requirements up to the approved budget amount on behalf of the Board. <br /> BACKGROUND: In 2019, the Board of Commissioners approved funding within the Capital <br /> Investment Plan for the Richard E. Whitted Complex stormwater management improvements in <br /> the northern/rear area of the Whitted Campus. The scope included a facility waste container <br /> corral, site drainage improvements, building waterproofing, site grading improvements, gravel <br /> parking lot improvements, back stair step/sidewalk improvements, and required signage. The <br /> project was advertised for bid on two occasions; however, due to the increases from the <br /> pandemic, the Project came in over budget with both bids. In FY 2022-2023, the Board approved <br /> additional funding in order to move this project forward. <br /> In September 2023, Orange County published an Advertisement for Bids. On October 26, 2023, <br /> the County received four (4) sealed bids from General Contractors. A Recommendation Letter <br /> and Certified Bid Tabulation are attached. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The construction contract to complete the work as designed for the <br /> Richard E. Whitted Complex Stormwater Improvements Project will be in the amount of$675,000. <br /> The Board previously approved funding for this purpose. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br />
