Year-to-Date Budget Kirk Vaughn, (919) 245-2153 <br /> Summary <br /> PURPOSE: To approve budget, grant, and capital project ordinance amendments for Fiscal Year <br /> 2023-24. <br /> Health Department <br /> 1. The Health Department has received $46,997 in grant funding through an inter-local <br /> agreement from the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services. These <br /> American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Public Health Workforce Development funds will be <br /> used to assist in the training and professional development of Orange County Health <br /> Department staff in order to improve the structure of the Health Department as well as <br /> equipment needed to improve medical and dental services to patients. <br /> 2. The Health Department has received a $10,000 award from the North Carolina <br /> GlaxoSmithKline Foundation to be used towards providing resources at Gateway Hub <br /> including tutoring services and community engagement activities. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to these items: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or <br /> color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national <br /> origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential <br /> or economic status. <br />
