86 <br /> lib <br /> 1.6 Environmental Context <br /> An environmental screening was completed for the project study area utilizing existing GIS resources.This screening <br /> analysis indicated areas of possible environmental concern, including streams and wetland areas,community resources, <br /> and locations of hazardous waste sites.These data were obtained from a variety of sources including those listed below: <br /> ➢ Local Government GIS Departments-Alamance County,Orange County,City of Mebane,Town of Hillsborough <br /> ➢ NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis(NC One Map) <br /> ➢ NCDENR Division of Water Quality(DWQ) <br /> ➢ NC Department of Cultural Resources—State Historic Preservation Office(NC SHPO) <br /> ➢ NC Department of Environmental Quality—Waste Management(DEQ-WM) <br /> ➢ NC Department of Transportation GIS Unit <br /> ➢ NC Natural Heritage Program(NHP) <br /> ➢ NC Wildlife Resources Commission(WRC) <br /> ➢ US Fish and Wildlife Services (FWS) <br /> Figure 28 through Figure 31 illustrate the known environmental features present within the project study area as <br /> indicated by the environmental screening process. <br /> This summary references environmental features that are located within the: <br /> ➢ Project corridor <br /> ➢ Project study area <br /> ➢ Vicinity of the project study area <br /> The project corridor refers to the right-of-way,which varies between 100-124 feet wide along the corridor.The project <br /> study area refers to a half mile buffer(5,280 feet total width)of the exiting roadway centerline, displayed as a gray dotted <br /> line on the figures.Features within the vicinity of the project study area are located beyond the half-mile buffer,however, <br /> have been considered to still be relevant because they will help to determine the character and needs of the corridor. <br /> 84 US 70 Multimodal Corridor Study Existing Conditions Report <br />
