102 <br /> lib <br /> 2006 Orange County Efland-Mebane Small Area Plan <br /> The Small Area Study analyzed the defined area and made recommendations regarding housing,community services, <br /> transportation,open space, and land use and economic features. <br /> The plan makes references to the Orange County Land Use Plan and provides the following recommendations: <br /> ➢ Medium and higher intensity commercial development that would be most appropriately served by a centralized <br /> water and sewer system should be located within the US 70/I-85 corridor from the Efland community to the <br /> extraterritorial planning jurisdiction of Mebane. <br /> ➢ Established activity nodes in the Cheeks Township,two of which are in the US-70 Corridor.These nodes are the: <br /> I-85/Buckhorn Node(Economic Development) and the Miles North Node(Commercial-Industrial Transition) <br /> located at the intersection of US 70 and Buckhorn Road. <br /> ➢ Encouragement of stricter enforcement of the speed limits along US 70. <br /> 2014 Orange County Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan 2030 <br /> The Orange County Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan identifies facilities,parks,and trails for expansion, <br /> improvement,and creation across Orange County by 2030.Key recommendations include: <br /> ➢ A proposed segment of the MST is planned to cross the study corridor at the confluence of Cane Creek and the <br /> Haw River. <br /> ➢ The Orange County trail segment is planned to parallel Cane Creek north from the Alamance County line to the <br /> Town of Hillsborough where the trail follows the Eno River westward. <br /> ➢ The plan recommends that the county and other stakeholders develop a master plan to facilitate the completion of <br /> the trail segment and consider the location of a node or way station on county or OWASA land to provide basic <br /> hiking services. <br /> Voluntary Agricultural Districts -Alamance and Orange Counties <br /> Both Alamance and Orange Counties participate in a program for Voluntary Farmland Preservation.These programs aim <br /> to promote and encourage the preservation of farmland in the rural portions of the county,where agricultural uses <br /> predominate,by means which are voluntary,rather than regulatory.Designating land as a Voluntary Agricultural District <br /> 100 US 70 Multimodal Corridor Study Existing Conditions Report <br />
