Data <br /> on commercial electricity energy consumption was provided by Piedmont Electric <br /> Cooperative, extrapolated from 2017 data from Duke Energy, and obtained from the <br /> cogeneration plants at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Data for natural gas <br /> usage was sourced from Dominion Energy. <br /> Of the commercial total, electricity accounted for 258,454 MT CO2e, natural gas <br /> contributed 79,263 MT CO2e, and coal-powered cogeneration accounted for 219,083 <br /> MT CO2e.
