93 <br /> COMMUNITY INVENTORY RESULTS <br /> In 2019,the Orange County community produced a total of 1,631,671 metric tons of carbon <br /> dioxide equivalent emissions (MT CO2e). As illustrated in the figure below, the greatest <br /> percentage of emissions was from transportation and mobile service at 43%, or 702,701 <br /> MT CO2e. Energy use(which includes electricity and natural gas)in commercial buildings <br /> represents the next largest source at 34%, and energy from residential use followed, <br /> contributing 19%. Industrial energy use contributed just 2%. In terms of total amounts, <br /> commercial energy produced 556,800 MT CO2e, residential energy resulted in 299,216 <br /> MT CO2e, and industrial energy contributed 33,626 MT CO2e. Orange County government <br /> operations were responsible for 19,359 MT CO2e. The largest emission sources were <br /> employee commuting at 33%(6,329 MT CO2e). Buildings and Facilities contributed 32%, <br /> with 6,185 MT CO2e. Water and Wastewater treatment facilities at 23% (4,479 MT CO2e) <br /> followed by Vehicle Fleet at 11%with 2,106 MT CO2e. The Transit Fleet accounted for the <br /> remaining 1% (251).
