This plan was built in partnership with the community <br /> f and serves as a roadmap for our County operations and <br /> community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build <br /> resilience to the impacts of climate change. As the Board of <br /> County Commissioners of Orange County, we are committed to <br /> protecting our community. We recognize that climate change <br /> poses a real and urgent threat to our public health, safety, local <br /> f$, economy, natural environments and overall quality of life which <br /> is why we must build upon the actions we have already taken to <br /> address climate change with new strategies and urgency. <br /> Orange County has made remarkable progress in addressing <br /> climate change and promoting sustainability. Through our active <br /> participation in regional resilience assessments, our innovative <br /> Community Climate Action Grant Program, our Lands Legacy <br /> _i <br /> program,EVvehicle and charger implementation,and participation <br /> ' in the multi-jurisdictional Solarize the Triangle campaigns, we <br /> have demonstrated our commitment to reducing emissions, <br /> x promoting resilience, and fostering environmental stewardship. <br /> These accomplishments highlight our intent to work together <br /> through regional collaborations, alongside our local jurisdictions, <br /> and through community based public private partnerships to <br /> create a sustainable future. <br /> Throughoutthe planning process of the CAP,we actively engaged <br /> with members of the community from various sectors, seeking <br /> their expertise and incorporating their valuable input into our <br /> strategies. The Orange County community has come together <br /> to shape its vision for the future. While the county government <br /> can take the lead on certain initiatives, the success of many <br /> endeavors relies on the actions taken by individual residents. <br /> It is only through the collaborative efforts of both government <br /> and residents that we can accomplish the objectives outlined in <br /> this CAP. Orange County has shown its capacity to achieve the <br /> collective aspirations of our community. Each of us has a role to <br /> play in building a vibrant,environmentally sustainable community <br /> that promotes well-being for all. <br /> We extend our gratitude to all those who have contributed to the <br /> developmentofthis plan and expressour unwavering commitment <br /> to its implementation.
