The bids were advertised both in the newspaper and on the County's <br /> website. <br /> Horizontal Grinder <br /> The implementation of the recently adopted RRMO will result in significant add tonal wood <br /> waste grinding requirements for the Solid Waste Management Department (twill be possible to <br /> produce a variety of recycled wood products utilizing this grinding machine, These include <br /> various types of mulch and boiler fuel. Additionally, it gives the County significant capability to <br /> manage large quantities of vegetative debris as the result of hurricanes or other types of severe <br /> storms. The machine is transportable, but this mobility is limited to a crertain event by bridge <br /> weight limits and ingress/egress constraints due to its physical size. Finally, in the event the <br /> County becomes actively involved in composting, this machine would be available to produce <br /> compost feedstocks. Current grinding services are more limited in nature and are provided by a <br /> primate contractor 2-3 times annually. It is estimated that this machine should provide a high <br /> level of samce for a period of approximately 10 years. <br /> A pre-bitl conference was held and was attended by one vendor, Bids were solicited from ten <br /> vendors on Orange County Bid number 234, with four bidders responding. Pursuant to the <br /> attached bid tabulation, Pioneer Machinery LLC of Senior, North Carolina submitted the lowest <br /> responsible bid that was responsive at a delivered mat of $501 382.76 for Petersen Pacific <br /> model 7400A. Staff had previously considered proposing a "piggyback" bid on another local <br /> government's purchase for this piece of equipment. However, soliciting a separate Orange <br /> County bid at BOCC suggestion resulted in additional savings of about$8,000. <br /> Trommel Screen <br /> The trommel screen will produce varying sized material to be utilized as boiler fuel to meet <br /> differing market requirements. The screen may also be used in future composting processes. <br /> A pre-bid conference was held and was allended by four vendors. Bids were solicitetl from <br /> twelve vendor;on Orange County Bid number 233,with five bidders responding. The attached <br /> tabulation reflects that Screening &Shredding Systems of Winston Salem, North Carolina <br /> submitted the lowest responsible bid that was responsive at a delivered cost of$132,210.00 for <br /> a Finley 790 Tremmel Screen. <br /> Live Floor Trailer <br /> Bids were also solicited for a 102 cubic yard "live-floor trailer. 'Live-floor is a type of floor <br /> designed for self-unloading. It does not require a pushing cylinder, tipping, mother mechanical <br /> means of emptying. This trailer will be used b transport processedrecycletlmaterialto <br /> market, for example delivering boiler fuel to different vendors and potentially delivering mulch to <br /> major users. <br /> Bids were solicited from seven vendors on Orange County Bid number 235, with five bidders <br /> responding. No pre-bid was required for this equipment. As reflected In the attached <br /> tabulation, Canam Steel Corporation of Points of Rock, Maryland submitted the lowest <br /> responsible bid that was responsive at a delivered cost of$46,872.00 for a Mani Model <br /> 36248100. <br />
