Approved 10.18.2023
1 Bobby Tucker: We've pushed for it and, I mean, it was less, it would have been nice to have two just from a traffic flow,
2 and the fire marshal is just saying if you've got emergency vehicles coming from two directions there wouldn't be any
3 blockages.
4
5 Beth Bronson: It's an interesting bend on 54 right before you get up—to that. So, basically, the main road frontage that
6 you have is, I mean, it looks like it's on a slight curve, but when you're on it, it's almost more of a slight curve because
7 you're rising in elevation. So, and that's the reason the DOT says only one?
8
9 Patrick Mallett: Absolutely, and so that item was brought out and, as was stated, the original intent was to have two
10 access points, but the realization is you can see on a plan in two dimensions, but the reality is those slight nuances.
11 NCDOT met with the applicants out there physically on the site and evaluated.
12
13 Beth Bronson: I assumed that that had.
14
15 Patrick Mallett: And the conclusion was this is the safest place to put the entrance.
16
17 Beth Bronson: Okay.
18
19 Patrick Mallett: And only one.
20
21 Beth Bronson: Only one.
22
23 Leon Meyers: Any other questions for Mr. Tucker? If not, we'll move on to the next part of Mr. Martin's presentation.
24 Cy?
25
26 Cy Stober: Not a question. Thank you, Mr. Chair, but I did want to identify that we do have one expert staff that is not in
27 the planning department, the Director of Environmental Health, Victoria Hudson, is also present this evening, and if
28 there are questions about wastewater or water use for this project, she in the audience and she is sworn in if there are
29 questions for staff on those matters.
30
31 Leon Meyers: Thank you.
32
33 Beth Bronson: Thank you.
34
35 Nathan Robinson: Beth, just for your information, on that packet we received, they don't know which page it is, and
36 there's like 200 to go through here, there is an email and there is a section there that was all from the department of
37 transportation, and that answers your question.
38
39 Beth Bronson: I apologize, yeah, I didn't have the packet in front of me.
40
41 Nathan Robinson: Yeah, I can't find it.
42
43 Beth Bronson: Look, when you guys were referring to the packet, I'm thinking about this, and I was like I know this is not
44 the one. I mean, I have the other packet, yes, confirmed.
45
46 Ryan Moffitt: Just to get this on the record and for, for Mr. Tucker. Mr. Tucker, do you concur with staffs assessment,
47 as they pointed out in the earlier portion of the record, that the site plan contains and satisfies the requirements of the
48 use-specific standards for the requested uses, camp and retreat center, that are set forth in Ordinance Sections 5.75
49 and 5.18.4?
50
25
