This will be an ongoing effort, and our
commitment to racial equity is for the long term.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
*Please submit for each program if applying for funding for more than one program.
9.Program Name:Resident Support Program
Program Primary Contact and Title:Erika Walker,Executive Director
Telephone Number:(919) 590-9023 E-Mail:info@peeweehomes.org
10.Please briefly describe the proposed program, including an explanation of how it aligns with the Town of
Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s Results Framework, and Orange County BOCC Goals and Priorities, and the target
population to benefit from the program.(250 words or less)
The proposed Resident Support Program will be led by a full-time Assistant Director of
Resident Support (AD) to meet the needs of our growing number of residents. Until late
2020, we operated on volunteer power and only recently hired a full-time director. With
strengthened capacity, we will strategically examine and improve how we support residents
to thrive within permanent homes. The AD will partner with each resident to assess their
housing-related needs and challenges and make collaborative plans to address these
needs, including connecting residents to existing community resources.
Currently, resident support is conducted as needed by our director, board members, and
volunteers. Previous efforts have connected residents with available services, like rental
assistance and meal delivery, assisted with financial management, and convened
community gatherings to build relationships, share feedback, and foster a sense of mutual
accountability within the community. Formalizing a program that also includes regular
individual check-ins, proactive planning, and coordination with other service providers, will
help ensure resident stability within their new homes.
Collectively, this program will build infrastructure to promote residents' well-being as outlined
in town and county goals. The AD will also advise and assist the efforts of partner
organizations, as appropriate, in the community-wide work of housing those without stable
shelter. Funding this program aligns with the County Commissioners goal to ensure a
community network of basic human services that maintains, protects, and promotes
residents’ well-being. Further, it aligns with towns’ goals of resident economic and social
well-being and opportunities to thrive.
11.Target Population:Please complete the table below with numbers (not percentages) of individuals
served and projected to be served.
Program informationPage 11 of 24
DocuSign Envelope ID: B7578AEA-ACB5-4FAD-8F8A-86A7F4B5A037
