Love, MFA (www.dancermlove.com) W e have selected <br />Michael as a potential guest artist/choreographer because of his <br />integration of the cultural past of tap dance and how it influences the future. <br />Michael’s academic interests also add to our mission of promoting, <br />preserving, and performing tap dance. <br />--Luke Hickey (https://lukehickey.myportfolio.com/projects) Luke Hickey <br />brings a hometown experience to our artist selections, having been part of <br />the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble and matriculated through Carrboro <br />High School. Luke represents a young, fresh, and contemporary view of <br />tap dance. <br />--Chris Broughton (https://www.stepsnyc.com/faculty/bio/Christopher- <br />Broughton/) Chris Broughton is an instructor, performer, and choreographer <br />who has traveled extensively as part of national and international tours. His <br />varied experiences and versatility make him an attractive candidate for <br />guest artist/choreographer. <br />--Sydney Burtis (https://www.broadwaydancecenter.com/faculty/sydney- <br />burtis) Sydney Burtis is a young and upcoming performer who has founded <br />her own dance company and is dedicated to tap choreography and <br />instruction. Sydney’s energy and focus on communication through dance <br />have the potential to create impactful and enduring choreography for <br />Footnotes. <br />--Starinah “Star” Dixon (https://www.maddrhythms.com/company- <br />members/star-dixon) As the assistant director, choreographer, and original <br />principal dancer of M.A.D.D. rhythms, Star is a highly sought after teacher <br />and performer. Her experiences in rhythm tap dovetail seamlessly with the <br />driving force of Footnotes tap. <br />MUSICIAN/BANDLEADER <br />For musical accompaniment at the community performance, our top choice <br />is the jazz clarinetist Adam Price (www.adampricemusic.com) and his <br />eponymous group of musicians that includes a pianist, double bass player, <br />and drummer. Adam has a special interest in the synergy between jazz <br />musicians and tap dancers, having lead classes and workshops on how <br />these two groups can best work together.
